Police Commissioner Andrew Coster said Auckland police have had to deal with serious events over the past 24 hours, RNZ reports, including a West Auckland shooting on Monday and an officer being struck by a fleeing vehicle in New Lynn on Sunday. There are now four officers in hospital as a result of both incidents. During the West Auckland incident, a man died after injuring three police officers when he opened fire on officers who were responding to a housefire.
